Baker Bear Club – Lunchtime Volunteers Needed

Baker Bear Club gives students an indoor option during lunch recess to play games, make art, and build with friends.

We’re looking for volunteers to help supervise on Thursdays and Fridays starting in January 2026. An Ella Baker staff member will also be present.

Lunch Recess Times

  • 2nd / 3rd: 12:20–12:50

  • K / 1st: 12:55–1:25

  • 4th / 5th: 1:30–2:00

Regular volunteers are ideal, but any time you can offer is appreciated.

Ball Retrieving Volunteers Needed

We need volunteers to regularly help retrieve balls that go over the playground fence. (Please note: LWSD staff and students are not permitted to do this task).

Lunch Buddy Program!

Calling All Volunteers! Become a Lunch Buddy Mentor at Ella Baker Elementary

Do you enjoy spending time with students and making a difference through simple, consistent connections? The LINKS Lunch Buddy Program pairs caring adult mentors with students who benefit from extra one-on-one time.

What you’ll do: Meet once a week during school hours to share lunch, play games, make crafts, or just chat in a friendly, designated area on campus.

Why it matters: Students with mentors are more likely to thrive socially, emotionally, and academically — and your time can make a lasting impact.

If you can commit to just one hour a week for the school year, we’d love to have you join!
